MTVR (Mechanical TV Radio) is an ongoing experimental platform for sound, performance, publishing, and moving image, initiated in Berlin in 2026. Operating across live performance, recorded sound, artist publications, and research, MTVR functions as a multidisciplinary framework through which each project informs and extends the others.
The platform encompasses MTVR Performance Series, MTVR Live, MTVR Listening, and MTVR Press—a constellation of works spanning drone-based performances, spoken verse, video, field recordings, experimental publications, and recorded releases. Rather than existing as separate disciplines, these formats operate as interconnected modes of transmission, forming an evolving archive of performances, texts, recordings, and sonic environments.
Musically, MTVR draws from the sustained physicality of drone, the atmosphere of ambient music, and the weight and texture of doom and experimental metal. Dense harmonic fields, extended vocal techniques, feedback, distortion, and minimalist composition are combined with spoken text to create immersive performances that occupy the space between concert, reading, installation, and ritual.
Conceptually, MTVR explores transmission as both a technological and human condition. Its work investigates memory, ecological systems, media archaeology, noise, interference, archival decay, and recursive forms of storytelling, treating sound not simply as a medium but as a method of thinking. Across its publications and performances, language and audio are understood as unstable materials—subject to erosion, repetition, contamination, and transformation.
MTVR is ultimately concerned with building environments for deep listening, where distortion becomes a form of intimacy and performance functions as an evolving ecology of sound, image, and text. Each release, publication, and live work contributes to a growing body of interconnected projects that blur the boundaries between music, literature, contemporary art, and sonic research.
